Fourth annual Paw Print Sprint attracts nearly 600 runners
Nearly 600 registrants attended St. Mark's Cathedral School's fourth annual Paw Print Sprint on October 31. Co-chaired by Alysha Wallace and Kristen Renda, the event began with a half-mile fun run, followed by a 5K road race through the Highland neighborhood.
Prior to the start of the race, School Chaplain Fr. Drew Christiansen led participants in an opening prayer, and St. Mark's seventh grader Lauren H. sang the national anthem. Matthew Tolpo was the overall male winner, finishing in 18:53.8, and Shelley Armstrong was the top female finisher, clocking in at 19:45.2. Several St. Mark's alumni volunteers were stationed throughout the course, cheering on runners as they made their way towards the finish line.
The family-friendly festivities continued with a Halloween-themed post-race party featuring a trunk or treat, music by D.J. Slim, a costume contest, a book fair sidewalk sale, and a patch of decorated pumpkins on display for all to enjoy. Race-goers also enjoyed breakfast and snacks from Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe as well as food trucks May the Cheese Be With You and Streetcar Snoballs.
