St. Mark's Cathedral School alumnus Mark Henry '21, a senior at Loyola College Prep, has been named a 2025 National Merit Semifinalist in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

Mark is among more than 16,000 semifinalists nationwide representing less than 1% of all high school seniors. Semifinalists qualified during their junior year by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship (PSAT/NMSQT).

These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be offered next spring. About 95 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.
