Running Club

Open to all kindergarten - 5th grade students

When: This after-school program will be held on Mondays from 3:00-4:00 p.m. from February 26-April 29.

Where: Students will be walked by an adult from their classroom to the Big Field.

Why: The purpose of SMCS Running Club is to encourage students to find a passion for running. While all physical activity is beneficial for kids, running can significantly improve physical, mental, and personal well-being. Research shows that kids who run do better in school, sleep better, and have the ability to handle emotional challenges they may face.

Description: Students will attempt to run, jog, or walk as many laps as they can over the course of the 2023-2024 school year. Students will earn one toe token for every 20 laps they complete (5 miles), and a certificate will be awarded to the top runner in each grade at the end of the school year. Lap count will be carried over from the fall.

Parents are always welcome to come and run with their kids! Running with your kids is a great way to bond as a family but also to establish a lifelong exercise habit!

T-Shirts: We still have a few St. Mark’s Running Club t-shirts may be purchased for $20. Student will be allowed to wear these shirts on specified days during the school year. Please email Aaron Bergman at abergman@smc.school if you are interested in purchasing a t-shirt to make sure we have the size available.

Students do not need to register to participate in Running Club.
